Over about <strong>60 km<\/strong>, it crosses the main Dolomite towns, in particular those of Cadore and Valle del Boite.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every year many tourists choose to spend a holiday of total relaxation <strong>without the stress of driving their own car<\/strong>: they use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atvo.it\/index.php?lingua=en&amp;area=menustandard&amp;idpadre=172&amp;idmenu=62\"><strong>transport network<\/strong><\/a> that connects some Dolomite towns such as <strong>S. Vito di Cadore, Cortina d&#8217;Ampezzo and Tai di Cadore<\/strong> to Venetian cities such as <strong>Mestre, Venice and Treviso<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>The Lunga Via dell Dolomiti: from Dobbiaco to Cortina d&#8217;Ampezzo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lunga Via delle Dolomiti is one of the most visually arresting and scenic cycle paths that, <strong>connecting Dobbiaco to Calalzo di Cadore<\/strong>, crosses streams, lakes, dense woods and picturesque villages.<br \/>In the background, imperious and captivating, there are the Dolomite peaks, among which the <strong>Tre Cime di Lavaredo, the Sassolungo, the Cinque Torri, the Antelao, the Sorapiss, the Marmolada and the Tofane<\/strong> stand out.<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no better way to discover the beauty, traditions, legends and history of the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You ride on what used to be the route of the old narrow-gauge railway, built during the Great War and used until the 60s: <strong>it is not a difficult route<\/strong> as, apart from the stretch between Cortina and S. Vito di Cadore which includes steep ups and downs and frequent zigzags, the track has slight slopes, is paved, has gentle dirt tracks and is closed to traffic.<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first part of the journey along the Lunga Via delle Dolomiti starts <strong>from Dobbiaco<\/strong>, in Alta Pusteria, and <strong>ends in Cortina<\/strong>, in a stretch that in winter becomes a cross-country ski track.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a visit to the Zeiller altars in the Church of San Giovanni Battista and to the Herbstenburg Castle, you cycle towards the <strong>Dobbiaco and Landro lakes<\/strong>, up to <strong>Carbonin<\/strong>, today a tourist village but in the past a holiday resort for kings and queens.<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You arrive at the <strong>Cimabanche pass<\/strong>, the natural border between the Val Pusteria and the Valle d&#8217;Ampezzo: passing the picturesque Lago Nero and Lago Bianco, you pass <strong>Ospitale<\/strong>, an ancient resting place for pilgrims and wayfarers that also has a church dedicated to the saints Nicol\u00f2 and Biagio dating back to the thirteenth century.<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Passing tunnels dug into the rock, iron bridges, old stations like that of Fiames and gurgling torrents, you reach <strong>Cortina<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>From Cortina to Calalzo di Cadore<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A visit to the <strong>Pearl of the Dolomites<\/strong> is a must, between the Basilica where a beautiful Brustolon altar is kept and the &#8220;Rinaldo Zardini Paleontological Museum&#8221; with its wealth of fossils dating back to 230 million years ago.<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second stage of the <strong>Lunga Via delle Dolomiti<\/strong> begins from Cortina, and crosses the Valle del Boite to S. Vito di Cadore, a Cadore village inhabited by man since ancient times (in fact, an ancient Mesolithic burial site was found here, belonging to a man who presumably lived 7000 years ago).<br \/>After a visit to the late Gothic church of the Madonna della Difesa from the fifteenth century, you can continue towards <strong>Lake Mosigo and Borca di Cadore<\/strong>: located between Antelao and Monte Pelmo, the village preserves a priceless Callido organ inside the Parish Church.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fourth stage of the Lunga Via delle Dolomiti continues along the course of the Boite river, a tributary of the legendary &#8220;Fiume Sacro alla Patria&#8221;, the <strong>Piave<\/strong>.<br \/>After passing the Mulino Varettoni, you arrive at <strong>Vodo di Cadore<\/strong>, whose spectacular hamlet of Vinigo is perched like a nativity scene on a rocky spur.<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You continue to ride alongside the village of <strong>Cibiana<\/strong>, famous for its murals created by international artists and for the &#8220;Museum in the Clouds&#8221; built on Mount Rite by the famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner.<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along the route, you cross ancient stopping places in Art Nouveau style and stone tunnels, before reaching the ancient village of Valle di Cadore, with its elegant Venetian-style buildings, traditional Cadore houses and the 12th century Church of San Martino.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Going beyond Tai di Cadore, the Lunga Via delle Dolomiti leads to <strong>Pieve di Cadore, the birthplace of Titian<\/strong>, a great Renaissance painter whose home can also be visited: the sixteenth-century palace, seat of the &#8220;Magnifica Comunit\u00e0 di Cadore&#8221;, is also unmissable, as is the museum dedicated to this organization founded in 1338 and the Eyewear Museum, full of pieces of every style and era.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The Lunga Via delle Dolomiti ends in Calalzo di Cadore<\/strong>, from where you can walk to the spectacular <strong>Cascata delle Pile<\/strong> waterfall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are many paths that cross the length and breadth of the Pale Mountains, among which the Lunga Via delle Dolomiti cycle path stands out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":5217,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"on","_et_pb_old_content":"<h4><strong>Rapida e agevole nelle manovre, un tempo la barca era l\u2019unico mezzo per viaggiare e spostarsi a Venezia. Ma quali sono le imbarcazioni tipiche veneziane? Partiamo subito alla scoperta della tradizione pi\u00f9 antica della citt\u00e0 d\u2019acqua per eccellenza: Venezia.<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n<h3><b>L\u2019origine delle imbarcazioni tipiche veneziane<\/b><\/h3>\r\nLe\u00a0<strong>imbarcazioni veneziane<\/strong>\u00a0hanno una loro tradizione e storia. Nate dalla necessit\u00e0 dei veneziani di spostarsi all\u2019interno della laguna, dovevano anche essere adatte a canali molto stretti dai fondali contenuti.\r\n\r\nNate per fronteggiare le necessit\u00e0 di\u00a0<strong>spostamento quotidiano<\/strong>\u00a0di tutta la popolazione, dalla gente comune fino alla classe aristocratica, \u00a0e per gestire il lato commerciale, hanno dato origine nel tempo a una\u00a0<strong>vera arte vogatoria<\/strong>\u00a0che ha generato competizioni, ed eventi, dove i gondolieri si sfidavano (e sfidano tutt\u2019ora) per decretarne il migliore.\r\n\r\nDa questi aspetti si intuisce che le imbarcazioni veneziane si sono sviluppate\u00a0<strong>in moltissimi modelli e stili.<\/strong>\u00a0Alcune venivano costruite seguendo un preciso percorso di lavorazione e con determinate essenze legnose affinch\u00e9 garantissero stabilit\u00e0. Se invece dovevano\u00a0<strong>trasportare carichi pesanti<\/strong>, erano pi\u00f9 ampie in larghezza e il rivestimento veniva rafforzato.\r\n\r\nPer le imbarcazioni dei patrizi veniva fatta particolare attenzione ai\u00a0<strong>dettagli estetici<\/strong>, lo stile doveva essere fine e aggraziato.\u00a0Le imbarcazioni tipiche veneziane, infatti, erano come un biglietto da visita e indicavano\u00a0<strong>il livello sociale di appartenenza del proprietario.<\/strong>\r\n<h3><b>Le imbarcazioni dei vogatori<\/b><\/h3>\r\nSe invece i costruttori dovevano esaltare la vogata, l\u2019imbarcazione veniva costruita con materiali pi\u00f9 leggeri da trasportare, in modo che i vogatori fossero in grado di farla\u00a0<strong>\u201cvolare\u201d con leggerezza sulle acque della laguna veneziana.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nOgni singola tecnica di vogata richiedeva, inoltre, un preciso modello di imbarcazione.\u00a0Naturalmente la capacit\u00e0 sviluppata nei secoli dai vogatori ha qualcosa di unico!\u00a0<strong>Si tratta infatti di un\u2019arte a tutto tondo tramandata di padre in figlio.<\/strong>\r\n<h3><b>Imbarcazioni tipiche veneziane: la Gondola<\/b><\/h3>\r\nLa Gondola, come non iniziare da lei. \u00c8\u00a0<strong>la regina indiscussa dei canali di Venezia\u00a0<\/strong>e viene guidata dai gondolieri con una padronanza incredibile.\r\n\r\nSe vorrai osservare Venezia dai suoi canali, il giro in Gondola \u00e8 un\u2019esperienza da fare assolutamente! La sua caratteristica principale \u00e8 il fondo dritto in legno, viene impiegata soprattutto per la pesca ed \u00e8 munita da una o due vele al \u201cterzo\u201d. La sua dimensione \u00e8 molto contenuta e non supera i\u00a0<strong>sei metri di lunghezza<\/strong>, offrendo in questo modo una particolare resistenza e forza allo stesso tempo.\r\n<h3><b>Imbarcazioni tipiche veneziane: i<\/b><b>l Sandolo<\/b><\/h3>\r\nDa moltissimo tempo \u00e8\u00a0<strong>una delle imbarcazioni pi\u00f9 note e diffuse a Venezia<\/strong>, usata particolarmente per la pesca.\r\n\r\nIl Sandolo non \u00e8 proprio un\u2019imbarcazione, ma\u00a0<strong>una \u201cfamiglia\u201d di imbarcazioni<\/strong>. Il suo uso inizia dal XIII secolo e il suo nome \u00e8 attribuito, secondo gli esperti della storia veneziana, al sandalo romano. S\u00ec, proprio cos\u00ec, la conosciutissima scarpa romana dalla suola senza spessore.\r\n<h3><b>La Mascareta, curiosit\u00e0 e uso attuale<\/b><\/h3>\r\nLa Mascareta, barca leggerissima, \u00e8 molto usata nei canali di Venezia. Il suo impiego primario \u00e8 la pesca.\r\n\r\nMa sulla Mascareta c\u2019\u00e8 una curiosit\u00e0 da sapere. Tra i Veneziani infatti si vocifera che il suo particolare nome \u00e8 da attribuire al fatto che molto tempo fa\u00a0<strong>veniva usata dalle prostitute per spostarsi nei canali<\/strong>. Da qui il nome, che indicava la\u00a0<strong>maschera<\/strong>\u00a0che esse indossavano.\r\n\r\nAttualmente, oltre che per l\u2019attivit\u00e0 di pesca, viene impiegata a livello agonistico e nelle competizioni di\u00a0<strong>voga femminile.<\/strong>\r\n<h3><b>Il Pupparin, l\u2019imbarcazione d\u2019\u00e9lite<\/b><\/h3>\r\nCome la Mascareta, il Pupparin appartiene alla famiglia dei Sandoli ed \u00e8 conosciuto per la sua\u00a0<strong>caratteristica curvatura della poppa<\/strong>\u00a0che si protende in altezza. Molto veloce nella navigazione, generalmente viene guidato da\u00a0<strong>due vogatori<\/strong>.
