Per cui decise di partire per la guerra, in modo da ottenere gloria e onori e una volta ritornato a Venezia poter sposare la sua amata.\r\n\r\nDurante le battaglie Tancredi si distinse per il suo coraggio e valore e le sue gesta arrivarono ben presto a Venezia, con Vulcana che aspettava ansiosa il suo ritorno. Purtroppo un giorno, durante una battaglia con i Mori di Spagna fu ferito a morte e, cadendo su un roseto il suo sangue tinse di rosso un bocciolo di rosa, che prima di morire consegn\u00f2 al suo amico Orlando, chiedendogli di consegnarlo alla sua Vulcana come pegno d\u2019amore.\r\n\r\nIl giorno successivo alla consegna di questo bocciolo, precisamente il 25 aprile, Maria fu trovata morta nel suo letto, con il bocciolo intriso del sangue del suo amato sul petto; da allora il bocciolo divenne per i veneziani il simbolo di un amore imperituro.<\/strong>\r\n
