The long awaited moment has come:<\/strong>\u00a0at last they gave you a ticket to visit it, a friend asked you to go on a trip, or you\u2019ve decided to go on a solo tour.\u00a0I\u2019m talking about the amazing, fascinating, unique Venice.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So here you are thinking how to plan your dream tour in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I already imagine you tormenting yourself with one question in mind:\u00a0\u201cwhat to see in Venice in one day?\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So, follow me on this itinerary I personally tested, and we\u2019ll discover it together.<\/p>\n

What to see in Venice in one day<\/strong>: departure from Piazzale Roma<\/h3>\n

If you want to go on the tour I made,\u00a0you can start from Piazzale Roma<\/strong>. I arrived there comfortably\u00a0by the\u00a0ATVO bus<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0from Marco Polo Airport in Venice. I left the car at the airport and mounted on the vehicle that led me directly to the most strategic point of the lagoon city.<\/p>\n

From Piazzale Roma\u00a0you can choose to embark on a water taxi or ferry boats<\/strong>\u00a0departing from Santa Chiara and Parisi, or if you prefer to trust your legs,\u00a0crossing the Calatrava Bridge<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 torment and delight of the Venetians \u2013\u00a0you will reach the city center in few minutes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

What to see in Venice in one day<\/strong>: in the direction of the Sestiere San Polo<\/h3>\n

As I\u2019ve already mentioned, I chose to keep on walking across Calatrava bridge and\u00a0in 5 minutes I arrived at the Santa Lucia train station<\/strong>. If this can be of any use, from Piazzale Roma you can get there in a moment.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve set Sestiere San Polo as the target of my itinerary<\/strong>\u00a0which develops around a large square (called \u201ccampo\u201d), where centuries ago the Venetians carried out every type of activities: from races and bull hunting, to masked representations.\u00a0It is the oldest and most fascinating sestiere of Venice<\/strong>, so my visit could only start from there!<\/p>\n

Arriving at the Santa Lucia Station,\u00a0I turned right to the Ponte degli Scalzi<\/strong>, where I lost my compass. I can\u2019t tell you exactly what direction I took, because in Venice the alleys are so densely tangled that it seems to be in the labyrinth of the Minotaur!\u00a0\"?\"<\/p>\n

However, it\u2019s beautiful to wander around without a target, discovering\u00a0the best glimpses for taking unforgettable photos<\/strong>. I too found myself in a very narrow alley where a lady was working the glass and other materials just outside her shop.<\/p>\n

What to see in Venice in one day<\/strong>: Basilica of the Frari and the Great School of St. Roch<\/h3>\n

Walking through Calle dei Amai and Calle delle Chiovere, I finally reached the two most beautiful gems of the sestiere:\u00a0the Basilica of the Frari and the Great School of St. Roch.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I won\u2019t dwell too much on the first, which owes its fame to the monument of Canova and to the extraordinary paintings of Titian. Instead, I must absolutely jump in the defence of the second. As soon as I entered, I was dazzled by\u00a0the incredible spectacle of golden stuccoes<\/strong>\u00a0that cover the ceiling and enrich the endless series of\u00a0Tintoretto paintings.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Great School of St. Roch is one of the four Great Venetian Schools.<\/strong>\u00a0It did not, as you might think, have educational purpose, but that of\u00a0mutual assistance and charity<\/strong>. It was completed by the architect Giangiacomo dei Grigi in the sixteenth century and, in addition to charitable works, this secular confraternity was responsible for hosting the relics of the homonymous saint.<\/p>\n

I enjoyed wandering through the huge salon holding a mirror bigger than me<\/strong>, with whom I could magnify as with a lens all the details of the ceiling \u2026 an ingenious expedient that the museum makes available to visitors!<\/p>\n

What to see in Venice in one day<\/strong>: Rialto and the Rialto Market<\/h3>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The visit to the Great School of St. Roch was challenging\u2026 so it was time to reintegrate all the burnt calories!\u00a0Therefore I stopped at Osteria da Zemei, one of the many typical bacarets that you can find if you get to San Polo.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These little Venetian inns are a joy for the eyes and the mouth:\u00a0here you can find the \u201ccicheti\u201d<\/strong>, a kind of mini bruschetta with every kind of ingredient above, often zero-mile. I tasted those with gorgonzola and strawberries, salted codfish, prosciutto and p\u00e2t\u00e9 of olives and prosciutto and figs.<\/p>\n

After a tremendous effort to get up from the table as I had put on 10 pounds in the meantime, I set out for the next stage:\u00a0the Rialto Bridge<\/strong>, the center of the Sestiere and the most important bridge in Venice.<\/p>\n

Although literally assaulted by tourists taking photos and selfies from the famous balconies, I must admit that it doesn\u2019t cease to fascinate.\u00a0If you want to know all its legends and mysteries, we\u2019ll talk about them in this article:\u00a0https:\/\/www.venice-box.com\/en\/venice-ghost-tour\/<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Survived at the foot of the bridge,\u00a0I went to gad around the Rialto Market<\/strong>. Here, things to see are certainly not lacking, but I suggest you stop on the fish market where you can see a plaque with the sizes of the fish sold and St. James, the smallest church in Venice.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, I only saw what was left of the morning market: fish remains and carcasses were devoured by customers, so to speak, unusual:\u00a0the seagulls!<\/strong>\u00a0A very fun and spicy show!<\/p>\n

What to see in Venice in one day<\/strong>: Palazzo Grassi<\/h3>\n

At this point if you want you can take a breath for a moment or come with me to the last stop.<\/strong>\u00a0In fact, the latter is not in the Sestiere San Polo, but in Campo San Samuele: I\u2019m talking about\u00a0Palazzo Grassi, home of exhibitions and temporary showcase of international artists.<\/strong>\u00a0In order to get there, in fact, I had to take 2-3 ferries, getting pretty wet because of the high tide\u00a0\"?\"<\/p>\n

After the exhibition I went to Piazzale Roma. Of course I couldn\u2019t miss the afternoon snack: a delicious pizza slice, which I gobbled up on my way back.<\/p>\n

When I arrived at Piazzale, I literally collapsed on the bus seat, tired but happy to have seen so many beauties!<\/p>\n

\u00c9\u00a0giunto il momento che tanto aspettavi:<\/strong> finalmente ti hanno regalato un biglietto per visitarla, una tua amica ti chiesto di fare un giro, oppure hai deciso di concederti un tour in solitaria. Sto parlando dell\u2019incredibile, affascinante, unica Venezia.<\/strong><\/p>

Sei l\u00ec, quindi, che stai pensando come pianificare il tuo tour da sogno in una delle citt\u00e0 pi\u00f9 belle del mondo. Gi\u00e0 ti immagino mentre ti arrovelli con una sola domanda in mente: \u201ccosa vedere a Venezia in un giorno?\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Ebbene, seguimi in questo itinerario che ho testato personalmente e lo scopriremo assieme.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Cosa vedere a Venezia in un giorno: partenza da Piazzale Roma<\/h3>

Se vuoi percorrere il mio stesso giro puoi partire come ho fatto io da Piazzale Roma<\/strong>. Sono arrivata l\u00ec comodamente col bus ATVO<\/u><\/a><\/strong> dall\u2019Aeroporto Marco Polo di Venezia. Ho lasciato la macchina all\u2019aeroporto e sono montata sul mezzo che mi ha portato direttamente nel punto pi\u00f9 strategico della citt\u00e0 lagunare.<\/span><\/p>

Da Piazzale Roma<\/strong> puoi scegliere di imbarcarti sui taxi acquei o sui vaporetti che partono dai pontili di Santa Chiara e Parisi, oppure se preferisci affidarti alle tue gambe, attraversando il Ponte di Calatrava<\/strong> - croce e delizia dei veneziani - in pochi minuti puoi raggiungere il centro di Venezia.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Cosa vedere a Venezia in un giorno: direzione sestiere di San Polo!<\/h3>

Come gi\u00e0 ti accennavo, ho scelto di proseguire a piedi attraverso Calatrava. L\u00ec in 5 minuti sono arrivata alla stazione dei treni di Santa Lucia<\/strong>, quindi se pu\u00f2 esserti d\u2019aiuto da Piazzale Roma puoi arrivare fino a l\u00ec in un attimo.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span>Ho fissato come meta del mio itinerario il Sestiere di san Polo<\/strong>, che si sviluppa attorno a una piazza ampia (chiamata \u201ccampo\u201d), in cui secoli fa i Veneziani svolgevano ogni tipo di attivit\u00e0: dalle corse, alla caccia al toro fino alle rappresentazioni in maschera. E\u2019 il pi\u00f9 antico e affascinante sestiere di Venezia,<\/strong> per cui la mia visita non poteva che iniziare proprio da l\u00ec!<\/p>

\u00a0<\/span>Arrivata all\u2019altezza della Stazione di Santa Lucia, ho svoltato a destra per il Ponte degli Scalzi, da l\u00ec ho perso la bussola. Non so dirti con esattezza che direzione ho preso, perch\u00e8 a Venezia l\u2019intrico di calli \u00e8 cos\u00ec fitto che sembra di essere nel labirinto del Minotauro!! :)<\/p>

Comunque il bello \u00e8 anche quello: girovagare senza meta alla scoperta degli scorci pi\u00f9 belli<\/strong> dove scattare foto indimenticabili. Anch\u2019io mi sono ritrovata in una calle strettissima dove una signora stava realizzando creazioni artigianali con vetro e altri materiali proprio fuori dalla sua bottega. <\/span><\/p>

Cosa vedere a Venezia in un giorno: Basilica dei Frari e Scuola Grande di san Rocco<\/h3>

\u00a0<\/span>Percorrendo Calle dei Amai e Calle delle Chiovere, ho raggiunto infine le due chicche\u00a0<\/strong>pi\u00f9 belle del sestiere: la basilica dei Frari e la Scuola Grande di San Rocco.<\/strong><\/p>

Non mi dilungo troppo sulla prima, che deve la sua fama al monumento di Canova e agli straordinari dipinti del Tiziano. Sulla seconda, invece, devo assolutamente spezzare una lancia a favore. Non appena entrata, sono rimasta abbagliata dall\u2019incredibile spettacolo di stucchi dorati<\/strong> che ricoprono il soffitto e arricchiscono la serie interminabile di dipinti del Tintoretto.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

La Scuola Grande di san Rocco<\/strong> \u00e8 una delle quattro Scuole Grandi Veneziane. Non aveva, come potresti pensare, finalit\u00e0 educative, ma di mutuo soccorso e beneficenza.<\/strong> Fu portata a termine nel XVI secolo dall\u2019architetto Giangiacomo dei Grigi e, oltre a opere benefiche, questa confraternita laica si occupava di ospitare le reliquie dell\u2019omonimo santo.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span>Mi sono divertita a vagare per l\u2019enorme salone tenendo in mano uno specchio pi\u00f9 grande di me<\/strong>, con il quale ho potuto ingrandire come una lente tutti i dettagli del soffitto\u2026 una trovata ingegnosa che il museo mette a disposizione dei visitatori!<\/p>

Cosa vedere a Venezia in un giorno: Rialto e il Mercato di Rialto<\/h3>

La visita alla Scuola Grande di San Rocco \u00e8 stata impegnativa..era giunto quindi il momento di reintegrare tutte le calorie bruciate! Mi sono fermata dunque all\u2019Osteria dai Zemei, uno dei tantissimi bacareti tipici<\/strong> che puoi incontrare se capiti a San Polo.<\/span><\/p>

Queste piccole osterie veneziane sono una gioia per gli occhi e per la bocca: qui puoi trovare i \u201ccicheti\u201d<\/strong>, una specie di mini bruschette con ogni tipo di ingrediente sopra, spesso a km 0. Io ho assaggiato quelli con gorgonzola e fragole, baccal\u00e0, crudo e pat\u00e8 di olive e crudo e fichi. <\/span><\/p>

Dopo un enorme sforzo per alzarmi da tavola dato che nel frattempo avevo preso 10 kg, mi sono incamminata fino alla tappa successiva: il Ponte di Rialto, il centro nevralgico del Sestiere e il ponte pi\u00f9 importante di Venezia.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Anche se assaltato letteralmente dai turisti che scattano foto e selfie dalle celebri balconate, devo ammettere che non smette di affascinare. Sopravvissuta alla calca del ponte, sono andata poi a zonzo per il Mercato di Rialto<\/strong>. <\/span>Qui le cose da vedere non mancano di certo, ma ti consiglio di soffermarti sul mercato del pesce<\/strong>, dove puoi notare una targa con le misure per tipologia di pesce venduto e san Giacometo, la chiesa pi\u00f9 piccola di Venezia. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Purtroppo ho visto soltanto ci\u00f2 che rimaneva del mercato mattutino: i resti e carcasse dei pesci erano divorati da clienti, per cos\u00ec dire, insoliti: i gabbiani!<\/strong> Uno spettacolo molto divertente e spassoso!<\/span><\/p>

Cosa vedere a Venezia in un giorno: Palazzo Grassi<\/h3>

Giunto a questo punto se vuoi puoi tirare un attimo il fiato oppure proseguire con me fino all\u2019ultima tappa.<\/strong> In realt\u00e0 quest\u2019ultima non si trova nel Sestiere San Polo ma a Campo san Samuele: parlo di Palazzo Grassi, sede di mostre ed esibizioni temporanee<\/strong> di artisti internazionali. Per arrivare fin l\u00ec, infatti, ho dovuto prendere 2-3 vaporetti, lavandomi non poco a causa dell\u2019acqua alta :)<\/span><\/p>

Terminata la mostra mi sono rimessa in cammino verso Piazzale Roma. Non poteva mancare ovviamente lo spuntino pomeridiano: un goloso trancio di pizza, che mi sono sbafata facendo la strada di ritorno.<\/span><\/p>

Arrivata al Piazzale, mi sono letteralmente accasciata sul sedile del bus, stanca ma felice di aver visto cos\u00ec tante bellezze!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>
